In 2012, 17 Singaporeans aged 10 to 19 committed suicide, the second highest figure
among this age group for the past five years, according to the Registry of Births and Deaths.
Last year, a 11-year-old boy who hung himself after fighting with his sister.
The inescapable fact is that youths under 19 years old make up a significant percentage of this.
It’s a sobering statistic that reminds us that our children are not immune to the stresses of daily life. Children are being rushed through life with a weaker foundation and resilience
to meet the endless burdens placed on them…
