Today’s tech-savvy kids may prefer the latest gadgets to books. How do we get the little ones to develop a love for good old books? “Children are more likely to ask a definition of a word they hear during reading time than they would while watching a television show,” notes Rene Armbruster, Reading Specialist at Learning Disabilities Reading Tutor. While technology can be visually stimulating, Rene says that it deprives children from “seeing with their brain”. Children are always curious to learn new words, so try not to stick to stories with beginner vocabulary.
