“Associate Professor Karen Nonis, who specialises in Early Childhood and Special Needs Education at National Institute of Education (NIE) believes that early introduction to sports can benefit
a child greatly. An advocate of both early specialisation and sampling approach, she recommends that the first age of exposure for young children “by and large, is about 2 years old.”

“Movement programs are excellent for the young toddler with lots of exposure
to open spaces and nature,” she adds. However, if your child is younger than two and you wish
to engage him in physical activity, choose something that is shorter in duration and
